EBS(Electronically Controlled Brake System)is a new technology based on ABS and ASR application in recent years. It is mainly used to improve the braking performance of truck, so that heavy truck can be as sensitive to braking as a car. Timing sequences between brake signals, sensors and its action mechanism are important factors of EBS. This case will share details of testing EBS related signals based on FT8203 USB DAQ.
The status sensing of the footbrake in the EBS system is a very important function, so the timing sequence needs to be tested in both development and manufacturing process. The EBS system has two associated switch signals, and two corresponding digital sensor outputs. Two switch signals are used to detect the footbrake pedal depth, and the two sensors use PWM output to transmit the action back to the EBS processor.

Timing sequence requirements:
As defined in above timing diagram, the test consists of 14 signals: including P0 to P5, Q0 to Q5, and the time lag between the two switching signals δ1 and δ2. The test precision requires 30μS.
The test technicians capture the parameters by oscilloscope with manual cursor which will take dozens of seconds. After changed to FT-USB DAQ solution, the hardware suit window will provide all test parameters <100ms!
